Pairing them with a blackout roller blind gives maximum darkness. On a sun-facing bedroom window, a thermal or UV-resistant lining also helps keep the room cooler.

In kitchens and bathrooms, easy-clean and moisture-safe coverings work best. An aluminium Venetian blind or a moisture-rated PVC roller blind wipes clean and handles steam without warping, unlike fabric curtains. It is best to avoid lined curtains, real-wood Venetians and delicate fabrics in these rooms.
